A New Beginning

Next Monday night we start fresh… again.

We are at a bright new location with lots of room and we have been able to split up our classes so that each training modality can be fully explored and instructed properly.

Monday at 7pm will be a Qigong class.
My method of teaching Qigong is based on a tiered methodology. First I instruct on a physical level making sure the movements are understood and properly executed and then I’ll move the focus to more and more subtle levels, such as breath work, energy work and finally spiritual work. This process requires a diligent student and a diligent teacher! But in the end, if the student puts in the work and truly cultivates their own practice the resulting lifestyle benefits are worth the effort.

Following at 8pm we will have our Tai Chi class.
I was asked at the open house a few days ago how it works with students being at different levels of practice.
I explained that, this is always the case! No matter what class I’m teaching I make sure that each student progresses with each class. Whether the student needs help with a particular form or wishes to advance in the set they are currently learning or perhaps wants to delve into a philosophical concept, I make sure that everyone gets at least one golden nugget per class! And just before closing I always finish class with, “are there any last questions?”

Wednesday at 8pm will be dedicated to Taijiquan.

The martial aspects or our art. Here we will learn to put into practice what the forms have touched on. Unlike the open hand forms, Taijiquan is alive. It is predicated on participating in situations between people. This is where energy meets energy and you learn to deal with it in the best possible way. Since we have never had a dedicated Taijiquan class before, the agenda for the class will be experimental but I’m going to try to get in one form application plus either a chin na or shuai jiao technique plus every week we’ll make time for push hands.

So, I’m excited! I’m looking forward to the new location, new and improved classes and most of all new students!

Hope to see you come out to class soon.

Peace

Rod
