Paths of Qigong
04/01/2012 09:44I had an important conversation with a student on Monday night that revolved around a question that we must be continuously asking ourselves about our practice.
Basically the question revolved around Qigong practice and what exactly did the student wish to gain from their practice?
There are four paths to follow in Qigong -
Religious (Spiritual)
Scholarly
Martial
Medical (Healing)
Any one path would take a lifetime to master. Thus it is important to choose wisely which path to pursue.
When defining your path one should meditate on themselves and review the signposts that have been set along your own path. What experiences do you most connect with? What lessons have ingrained themselves the deepest. What course of thought do you continuously come back to over and over again?
Once you "think" you have revisited all of the above then you can choose your path of study because you will have confirmed this within yourself and the decision should FEEL right.
Now after that process has been completed then it's another process to understand where to begin, because it is not very often that a good teacher is available right around the corner. There are often sacrifices to be made in order to receive the best instruction.
So, it'll be interesting to see what path this student decides to take.
