Qigong in the morning
14/09/2011 09:56For the past few months I have been concentrating my morning practice almost exclusively on qigong. This is for a couple of reasons.
One, I have been delving into the depths of Ziran qigong. I am endeavouring to smooth out my forms and create a balanced flow of energy while performing Ziran qigong. I am also taking the time to listen to what my body is telling me as I perform the forms. This is of course what one should do all the time, but the past few months I have really been striving to maintain the mind body connection throughout the sets.
Second, I am on concentrating more qigong (as opposed to Taiji) because I just feel a need to do so. When one “feels” a need, one should listen and act on that information. This is respecting your “self”. Do you like it when your ideas or advice is ignored? Probably not. So it stands to reason that the information your body is trying to communicate to you is worth listening to.
What I have noticed and become victim of, is mixing up the performance of individual forms when do various sets. There are quite a few forms in Tai Chi qigong and Ziran qigong that are performed in a very similar fashion but do have slight variations. So when I get into the “zone” and “loose my mind” I sometimes snap back into beta consciousness when the realization hits me that I have put a Ziran form into my Tai Chi qigong set. I am aware of what has just happened but I basically say “no big deal” to myself and try to drop back into Theta consciousness as quickly as I can.
Peace
Rod
