Last night at push hands class we played with the practice of a double palm strike (in the form of An) to the chest. We practiced and questions arose as how to properly neutralize the incoming energy.  This eventually led to a great discussion where we touched upon the concept of being able to channel the opponent’s energy into the void because we are all fundamentally empty. This concept of being fundamentally empty then produced the question from a student who asked “If I am empty how can I issue the energy back to the opponent….” To which my answer was “Who is I?” “What is I?”

Hahahaha, lots of fun.

 

Another student who has been training with me for two years now related how just this week he’s had a few breakthroughs. He related how he now knows what it is like to be connected to both heaven and earth at the same time. This “feeling” was accomplished while performing diagonal flying during his private home practice. When performing the form his root was solid, yet when he led the forward hand up with his Yi to complete the strike he felt his “spirit rise.” So after two years he now KNOWS what I am talking about when I go on about how man is actually the manifestation of earth and heaven energy.

 

He also related that it is now “normal” for him to continuously feel energy all around him and that he feels grateful that he has had the opportunity to experience this phenomenon while 99.5% of the population will never be open enough to experience the energetic reality. 

 

To those who read my “lesson of the week” entries, this student is entering the 2nd awareness where the energetic reality is just as tangible as the physical reality.
