Regulating the Mind (Part 3b)

The Merovingian in my favourite movie The Matrix is the personification of the head mind. The head mind sees itself as the Boss and the ultimate “trafficker of information.”

The head mind is the home of language and thinking and has an absolutely insatiable appetite for knowledge, power and control. Knowledge by the way is personified in the Matrix by the character called the Key-maker and the Merovingian plainly says “The Key-maker is mine and I see no reason, no reason at all, to give him up.”

The antitheist of the Merovingian is his wife Persephone, the personification of the heart mind. She is a character who is only concerned with “feeling” and “would do anything to experience love again.” In fact, at one point in the movie, during a fit of rage the Merovingian says, “Woman (Persephone), one day you will be the death of me!” This is a clue for mainstream entertainment consumers and internal artists alike.

Our western culture is completely out of balance. Just look at our “education” system and how everyone is forced to memorize and regurgitate, both applications of the head mind as opposed to learning via play or passion or plain experience. I believe this paradigm has been created for the specific reason of keeping mankind unbalanced and thus far away from reaching our potential as human “beings.”

The first step in regulating the head mind is to understand that it is not the only mind! This is truly a new concept for most westerners but common knowledge to many eastern traditions. Once this concept is accepted then we can develop an awareness of the heart mind and its important role in our evolution, or should I say revolution.

By gaining a working understanding of the strengths and weaknesses of both minds we can then gravitate to either as we see fit, according to the experience we wish to have.

Watch the below video and see how Persephone reacts to and during a kiss as opposed to Neo who is “thinking” many things including “my girlfriend (Trinity) isn’t very happy about this!”

We have many tools at our disposal with which to experience this world not the least of which are our minds. We should not suppress these wonders of the Universe but instead we should understand them and make use of them to help us navigate the unchartered waters of our futures.

Peace
