"Tai Chi is such a patient art"

I was exceptionally pleased to hear a student come out and say last night, "Tai Chi is such a patient art."

This same student went on to explain that he now understands that you just have to keep plugging along with your lessons, always absorbing and digesting, month after month until one day...

"I was out barbecuing the other night so I decided to do some tai chi. As I was doing the forms I felt totally connected and rooted. Everything was just... perfect."

I could tell by looking into his eyes and sensing his energy that he had experienced a break through. A moment that a teacher is always so pleased to hear about because we know what those moments feel like.

Because we all have so much going on our lives and because of the nature of the mind itself, we don't usually get the full benefit of tai chi when we practice, but once in a while, often when you least expect it, you have an indefinable moment. A moment of extreme clarity or connection. This is the "gold" of internal practice that makes the months or years of practice all worth while.
