The Benefits of Qigong Self Massage

Have you ever noticed that when you get tired you might rub your face with your hands or rub your hands against your thighs? Guess what… you have been doing qigong self massage!

How many of you take 10 or 15 minutes out of your busy day and make a point of connecting with your “self”?

I’m betting not very many. It seems that we have been conditioned to look outward rather than inward and this needs to be remedied by anyone training in the internal arts.

There are a few excellent techniques to re-connect with your body that I would recommend and qigong self massage is one such jem. Qigong self massage is a relatively easy to learn, beneficial and proactive approach to health care that has the advantage of instant feedback as well as being an accumulative practice.

For one to take advantage of this internal art it is best to learn about various energetic aspects of your body such as the main energy centres, the meridian system, acupressure points, and massage pathways. You can learn about these from varied sources such as books or videos but be sure to only accept the teachings of reputable sources and pay close attention to whether you are receiving tangible benefits from your training. If you are not obtaining any benefit then change your source of information and re-start your practice.

Taking time everyday to do something as simple as run your own hands over your body is a very simple way to confirm that your relationship with your body is important and that you want the benefit of good health so that you can continue on your life journey with a healthy body, clear mind and cheerful spirit.
