Carbohydrates – The Gorilla in the room
All one has to do is look at the general populace walking around the mall and one cannot help but come to the conclusion that our society is in deep trouble regarding overall health. One of the fundamental reasons for this is the consumption of massive amounts of carbohydrates.
Carbs are cheap and carbs provide instant dietary satisfaction, those are two reasons why people flock to the center isles of the grocery store instead of sticking to the left, back and right walls where the fresh stuff is. What most people do not understand is that the excessive consumption of carbs is truly, truly detrimental to overall health.
When carbs are consumed, the body converts them into glucose (sugar) to be used as fuel for the body. This is fine if done from time to time, but if the overall diet is inflated with carbs then:
1 - the body gets the pancreas to secrete insulin in order to grant the carbs (converted to glucose) access to the cellular interior of the muscles and liver for future use as fuel
2 - the body can only store a small amount of glucose, any excess is then converted into saturated fat and stored throughout the body
3 – the body gets trained to use glucose to run the daily operations and when it runs out of this quickly used glucose fuel it signals you to ingest some more, meaning you are always eating
4 - You have totally reprogrammed your body away from burning fat as fuel, which is what nature intended in the first place
So if you get rid of the carbs, and I mean totally get rid of the carbs, then the body will naturally switch back to burning fat as fuel and you’ll see the pounds melt away.
If that isn’t enough of a reason, realize that the massive over consumption of carbs has been linked to:
obesity
diabetes
chronic fatigue
IBS
Fibromyalgia
And other chronic inflammation type syndromes/medical disorders
Note – refined sugar is often called the white death with good reason. Sugar gets the body to behave just like it does with carbs thus the western diet with it’s overabundance of cheap sugars and cheap carbs is literally killing the population.
